A State Fair to Remember comes vividly alive in colorful flowers with the Discover Financial Services inaugural Rose Parade float. In true American fashion the tradition of the annual State Fair, shared by families and overflowing with life-long memories, is cause for anticipation and celebration. What an exciting time awaits — good food, great entertainment, blue ribbon competitions and old-fashion family fun are to be had for all in this colorful floral setting.

Telling the story of the family who plays together, remains healthy together, this whimsical and quaint family scene depicts a momma cat and family playing in a Victorian-inspired garden, gathering vegetables and depicting Kaiser Permanente’s “Thrive” message of healthy eating and active living in a style reminiscent of a children’s classic story. “Purrfectly Healthy” emphasizes the importance of healthy eating and active living and the understanding that good health is not something that is created solely in a doctor’s office but is realized every day by the way we choose to live our lives.

In what is turning into a Rose Parade tradition, the world record-breaking Tillman, holder of the Guinness World Record as the fastest skateboarding dog, is going for a new Guinness record — skimboarding on the world’s heaviest float in history. Having already set the standard for skateboarding and snowboarding in previous Rose Parades, Tillman and Friends are now going to enjoy a little fun in the sun in this tropical floral setting while showing off their skimboarding skills. Having a splash with their dock-jumping dog friends, Tillman and Friends prove that there is nothing better than a healthy and happy pet.

“City of Dreams Come True”

In anticipation of its 2014 Centennial Celebration, the City of Beverly Hills, one of the world’s most glamorous cities, is kicking off its celebration with this floral montage of many of the City’s most treasured and renowned iconic images. The grandeur and elegance of Beverly Hills comes vividly alive in flowers. The float consists of three floral arenas with the world’s most recognizable city limit sign prominently featured at the front of the float. An idyllic lily pond, flanked by wrought-iron street lamps styled from those lining Rodeo Drive, complete this lavish setting.

The City of Torrance invites adults and children alike to be inspired and celebrate a wonderful world of imagination together in a breathtaking garden setting.

“A Grand Celebration at Sea”

Cunard Line, with its most respected fleet of luxury ocean liners and reputation for exquisite ocean travel, commemorates its inaugural Rose Parade entry in grand style. Building Dreams, Friendships and Memories has been part of the proud 170-year heritage of Cunard Line and “A Grand Celebration at Sea” depicts the ultimate sense of occasion that is experienced by guests sailing aboard Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth, The Most Famous Ocean Liners in the World. Champagne toasts, a big band orchestra, ballroom dancing and multigenerational families are all seen celebrating their dreams, friendship and building memories of a lifetime aboard Cunard Line. An oversized floralgraph of the Queens of Cunard takes center stage at the top of the ascending staircases to announce the Cunard Royal Rendezvous taking place on January 13, 2011 in New York Harbor.

“Dreams for the Community”

The City of Duarte and City of Hope salutes “Building Dreams, Friendships and Memories” by paying tribute to its residents, patients and its beautiful setting located at the base of the picturesque San Gabriel Mountains. Duarte is a progressive community, rich in history and culture, which offers safe and stable schools, neighborhoods, and outdoor recreational events for the entire family, enriching the community as a whole. The City of Hope provides state-of-the-art, life saving treatments for cancer, diabetes and other serious diseases, giving hope and realizing dreams for patients and their family and loved ones.

“Presenting The Royal Court”

The 2011 Tournament of Roses Rose Queen and Royal Court are magnificently presented in an outdoor Renaissance garden setting framed by an intricately carved Roman colonnade supporting entwined vines. Flanking the length of the float are sculptured urns with cascading rose arrangements linked together with fanciful rose garlands. An oversized replica of the Rose Queen’s crown sits upon a presentation pillow at the front of the float.
